2016 One Day Conference

    West Central Wisconsin Society for Human Resource Management (WCW SHRM) is preparing for our upcoming 5th Annual WCW SHRM spring conference that will be held at the Cranberry Country Lodge in Tomah on Friday, April 8th.

    The event will starts with a continental breakfast from 8 – 9 where attendees may register, network, and view exhibits.

    After a brief welcome, breakout session begin and run from 9:15 – 10:30. Attendees may choose a “LEGAL UPDATE – Mindy Dale, Attorney (Weld/Riley, S.C.)” or “Writing Legal & Effective Job Descriptions – Jennifer Mirus, Attorney (Boardman & Clark, LLP)

    After a short break, the next set of breakout sessions run from 10:45 – Noon. Attendees may choose “Performing Effective and Legal Disciplinary Actions and Terminations That “Stick” - Kevin Terry/Brian Symes, Attorneys (RuderWare Law Firm)” or “Recruiting and Hiring Top Talent - Alan Kinsey, V.P. (Inquirehire, Inc.)”.

    Over Lunch (Noon-1), Sonya Ganther, the Northwest Regional Director of WISHRM will discuss Why SHRM and give a SHRM update.

    From 1 – 2:15, you can choose between two more breakout sessions. The options for this timeframe include “Building Effective Teams - Lisa Pook, Manager – Organizational Development (MRA)” and “Employee Engagement/Retention Strategies That Work - Kim Keener, Recruiting Advisor (MRA)”

    After taking a quick break, the closing session runs from 2:30 – 3:15 “It’s Your Attitude, It’s Your Day, Make it a Good One!  - Roger Fish”

    Silent Auction Items-

    Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward our Workforce Readiness Program to support Junior Achievement in our local high schools.  We will be starting our third year of classes this spring in Tomah.  Participants can bid on the various items throughout the morning, and the highest bidder will be the lucky buyer in the mid-afternoon.  Items of all types are welcomed.  Examples from prior years include:  handmade crafts, hotel lodging gift certificates, wine baskets, dining gift cards, etc.  Items big or small are accepted.

    Trinket Bags-  

    All registered attendees will receive a bag full of trinkets/giveaways upon arrival.  Company promotional items would be appreciated to add to our bags.  Examples include: pens, sticky pads, flashlights, coupons, purse sized tape measures, etc.  We are asking for 60 of the same item from each donator.

    **If you are able to donate, please email me to let us know what items we can expect from you. The items can be dropped off at either our February or March WCW SHRM regular monthly meeting or here in our Tomah Manpower office located at 601 N. Superior Ave.   (Please have them to us no later than Thursday, March 31st.)**

    Additional Need for Sponsors:

    We are still looking for event sponsors interested in showcasing their company products/services to potentially over 50 area Human Resource professionals.  The $150 sponsorship fee will include a table in the display area for business collateral/giveaways along with one free, all-day conference registration ($80 value).  Sponsor signage/display booths are encouraged.

    Just a note: no sales will be taking place at the event as the booths will not be manned.  Each sponsor’s products/services will be visually showcased for the entire event.  The sponsor names/logos will be included in the marketing of the event, so please take advantage of this cost effective way to get your name out there!
